Approach

With an insight-oriented approach, I will try to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your emotions, especially when it is unclear why you might be feeling the way you do. Through an exploration of past behaviors and experiences, I’ll support you in identifying certain negative patterns and ways of relating that may seem to continuously emerge in your work, romantic, friend, and family relationships. Often times, people feel stuck when they put effort into making changes or overcoming obstacles, only to end up discouraged (and possibly confused and frustrated) when things repeatedly unfold in undesired, yet familiar cycles. Other times, a person may be confused or concerned as to why the appearance of their external lives contrasts from what they feel internally; perhaps manifesting in the form of unexplained feelings of sadness or hopelessness, despite living a life that has all outward appearances of joy and contentment.

During times of transition, such as when a woman becomes a new mother, a variety of expected and unexpected feelings may emerge. Together, we’ll work to achieve your therapeutic goals, and gain insight into how a shift in roles can affect one’s identity, and why feelings of ambivalence, along with many others often accompanies such changes. It’s through this deeper understanding of yourself and the implementation of therapeutic tools that I’ll help support you on your journey.
